SDMB needs your help at the 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo!

Join Sonoran Desert Mountain Bicyclists as we partner with Epic Rides and Sierra Nevada Brewing Company to run the beer garden at the 24HOP for the second year. This year, there will be a second beer garden up at the rock drop in addition to the main beer garden.

As the nonprofit running the beer gardens, all proceeds go directly to support SDMB’s advocacy efforts. We are finalizing a stewardship program with Pima County for county trails including Tucson Mountain Park, Sweetwater, Robles Pass, and Ridgeline Trail. SDMB is raising more than $3,000 to provide stewards with trail tools, training, and incentives to keep the trails we ride and love in great shape.

Shifts are only 1.5 – 3 hours long, so they fit in great between laps during the race. We need 5 volunteers per shift for the main beer garden, and 2 per shift up at the rock drop. Volunteers must be 18 or older. The Main Beer Garden is open from 2 PM – 8 PM on Friday, 11 AM – 9:30 PM on Saturday, and 10 AM – 3 PM on Sunday; the Rock Drop Beer Garden is open from 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM on Friday, 11 AM – 6:30 PM on Saturday, and 10 AM – 1 PM on Sunday.

Please follow the links below to sign up for shifts; there is a separate link for each beer garden. If you have any questions, email trailsteward@sdmb.org.

Arizona Land Dept. permits are required for any use of the 24HOP course, 50 Year, and Fantasy Island. Enforcement is more frequent around the race each year. 24 HOURS IN THE OLD PUEBLO!!!

The popularity of Epic Rides‘ signature event is increasing faster than mountain bike wheel sizes! And SDMB is incredibly excited to be a part of this fantastic event. We invite you to stop by SDMB-Town (on the right just before you enter 24-Town proper) and say “Hi!” Sample some great Catalina Brewing Company beer while you’re there.

Please visit our official SDMB booth in “town” and take a look at the new SDMB shirts, socks and other schwag, and don’t forget to pick up a complimentary cho-comb. What could be better than that? How about some amazing Sierra Nevada beer? Proceeds from all the SDMB Beer Garden sales goes directly into maintaining Tucson’s trails through our Trail Love program. Beer Garden hours are: 2-8 Fri, 11-9 Sat, 10-2 Sun.

See you there!

24 Hours in the Old Pueblo – Sierra Nevada Beer Garden

SDMB has an exciting opportunity at the 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo this year, running from Friday, February 13 through Sunday, February 15. We will be running the Sierra Nevada Beer Garden in 24 Hour Town!

This will raise significant funds for trail development in Tucson, but we need your volunteer help. The beer garden will be open on Friday from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM, on Saturday from 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM, and on Sunday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Shifts are only 2 hours, and are guaranteed to be a good time. All proceeds go directly to support upcoming trail projects in the Tucson area, including new singletrack in Tucson Mountain Park and the 100-Acre Wood Bike Park.

As a bonus for anyone who volunteers, folks who come out for a 2-hour shift will get a free SDMB pint glass, and anyone who comes out for 2 or more 2-hour shifts will get a pint glass and a pair of SDMB socks. Pretty cool, huh?

To sign up for shifts, go to the Doodle link below. Make sure to let your friends and family members who will be at the race know, and forward the link to anyone you think might like to volunteer. Email Trailsteward@sdmb.org with any questions.

Even if you can’t volunteer, come by, have a pint, and drink beer for trails! All proceeds go to SDMB to help make your trails better.
