November Social Ride

  • When: Sunday, November 29 @ 8am
  • Where: Arizona Trail/ATV Route
  • Ride Rating:  3B-3C

Come ride Redington Pass on Thanksgiving weekend! For November’s Social Ride, we are going to ride the AZT/ATV Route. This is a solidly intermediate ride, with about 1500 ft. of climbing over 12 miles. The route climbs the ATV route to the Italian Trap trailhead, then descends the AZT for several miles to Bellota Lake. After a break at the lake, we will climb out Bellota Rd. back to the ATV trail, and back to the car. The views are amazing, and the trail provides a mix of rock and flow.

This is a mellow-paced ride. No one gets dropped. Post-ride refreshments at the lot courtesy of SDMB. This is also a great way to link up with Milagrosa via the AZT if anyone wants to drop a vehicle at Suzenu and hitch a ride up to the top.

RSVP on the Facebook page event.

Meet at Le Buzz at 8:00 AM to arrange carpools and get coffee.

Ride for a Teacher

Come out to Ride for a Teacher with Carlos Resto! Just show up with at least $5.00 in school suppies, enjoy a great ride, and enjoy post-ride beverages courtesy of SDMB. Social Ride – Starr Pass

Join us on Saturday, June 13th (7:00am) at the main Genser Trailhead for a social ride at Starr Pass

We have been working hard with Pima County to lay out more than five miles of new singletrack that we hope to start building in the fall. On the ride we will show folks some of the proposed corridor and answer questions about proposed trail closures in the future.

We will ride the “regular loop” including the Yetman reroute, with more miles if folks are interested. Mellow pace, no one gets dropped.

Post-ride frosty beverages courtesy of SDMB.

Email trailsteward@sdmb.org or go to the Facebook event page with questions or to let us know you’re coming out.

24 HOURS IN THE OLD PUEBLO!!!

The popularity of Epic Rides‘ signature event is increasing faster than mountain bike wheel sizes! And SDMB is incredibly excited to be a part of this fantastic event. We invite you to stop by SDMB-Town (on the right just before you enter 24-Town proper) and say “Hi!” Sample some great Catalina Brewing Company beer while you’re there.

Please visit our official SDMB booth in “town” and take a look at the new SDMB shirts, socks and other schwag, and don’t forget to pick up a complimentary cho-comb. What could be better than that? How about some amazing Sierra Nevada beer? Proceeds from all the SDMB Beer Garden sales goes directly into maintaining Tucson’s trails through our Trail Love program. Beer Garden hours are: 2-8 Fri, 11-9 Sat, 10-2 Sun.

See you there!

March Last Saturday Ride

Arizona Trail Day! – March 29th

Please join our Last Saturday Ride in coordination with the Arizona Trail Day- Tucson and the Colossal Campout. We will be meeting at 8:30 AM at the Pistol Hill Road trailhead (at the kiosk just South of Old Spanish Trail). We will do an out and back to Camino Loma Alta, including the newly opened (to mountain bikes) Hope Camp Trail. We will then keep going past Pistol Hill Road to Colossal Cave park to participate in the AZ Trail Day festivities, and folks can ride back to Pistol Hill Rd. at their leisure, or as a group.

Please RSVP here on Eventbright.

The out and back to Camino Loma Alta totals 14 miles, and the out and back to Colossal Cave will total about another 9 miles, for a total of roughly 23 miles with maybe 2000 feet of climbing. The trail is rolling and non-technical. We will move at a relaxed pace, and no one will get dropped. If folks don’t want to do the whole thing they can turn around at any point, and there will be the option to drive from Pistol Hill to the park rather than riding on singletrack.

Pistol Hill Rd. to Camino Loma Alta trail information.

In the evening, the Arizona Trail Association is hosting the Colossal Campout at La Sevilla Campground at Colossal Cave. Join us for live music, food from It’s Greek to Me and Arizona Trail Ale by the campfire.

This event is part of Sirena’s 800-mile Arizona Trail Trek to promote the Arizona National Scenic Trail, the Gateway Communities, and the new official guidebook. More details on the AZT Trek can be found at www.aztrail.org/azttrek

Donations are greatly appreciated and go toward Sirena’s goal of raising $20,000 to protect, promote and maintain the Arizona National Scenic Trail!
