Thirsty Thursdays are coming!

Is there anyone that does not like beer out there?

Yeah, that’s what we thought!

Come drink some Ales and help build some trails!
We are going to start a monthly brewery tour called “Thirsty Thursdays” on,
you guessed it, a Thursday.

So join us for the first one at Ten Fifty-Five Brewing on July 27th.

These generous Breweries are looking to give back by donating $1.00 for each beer sold.
Make sure you come thirsty!
We will work our hardest to acquire cool raffle prizes. The SDMB EZ-up will be there with merchandise, Swag and folks eager to let you know about the latest projects and developments. 100 acre woods (a bike park right in Tucson), XC race course out in Vail, Big wash into Honeybee, more trails at TMP, and of course maintaining it all. There is plenty of work to keep us occupied for a while, but we need your support to make it happen.

And because Tucson is home to over 20 breweries, there will be plenty of variety to go around! Already signed on are: Catalina Brewing CompanyCopper Mine Brewing Co., and Public Brewhouse.

Got and Idea for a Brewery? Maybe you own one and want to help out?
Please get a hold of us at events@sdmb.org so we can get to coordinating and making fun times happen!

May Social Ride On Fifth Avenue & SDMB Intermediate Skills Ride At Starr Pass with Edy Yee

What is Fifth Avenue? It is the new Trail we just opened at Starr Pass. With hundreds of hours of work from our vollenteers this build season it is now open.

Where is it? It starts at the Rock Wren/Yetman 4-way(now a 5 way) and connects to the Beer Garden at the Yetman.
The ride will start at the Richard Genser Trailhead at 8am. Please be all signed in and ready to ride by 8:15.
We can start with an intermediate ride and add different levels as needed.
Route will be Genser up Rock Wren to the 5way. Take Fifth Avenue to Beer Garden. Beer Garden to Starr Pass to Flint trail, around to the Yetman and back through Fifth Avenue to 5-way. And back to Genser.

Beware, it will be hot! Make sure you have plenty of electrolytes and snacks

Our first Skills Ride for the season will be an Intermediate ride at Starr Pass with PMBIA-certified instructor Edy Yee. Starr Pass trails are beautiful, but also rocky and often loose, and a perfect place to work on climbing and descending skills. The ride will include basic instruction, and opportunities to “session” challenging sections of trail in a safe and supportive environment.
Beware, it will be hot! Make sure you have plenty of electrolytes and snacks to get you through the class!

FREE and FOR SDMB MEMBERS only!
If you are not a member yet, you can join at SDMB.org or on our Facebook page. This class is a $75 value!

As this is an intermediate skills ride, all participants should be comfortable riding the entire Lone Cactus Loop at Fantasy Island without stopping or getting off. All riders must have a helmet and a mountain bike in good working order. Questions: post up here, or email trailsteward@sdmb.org.

THIS SKILLS RIDE IS LIMITED TO 8 PARTICIPANTS.

You must REGISTER by going to:

100-Acre Wood Update

Progress continues on 100-Acre Wood Bike Park!  The City of Tucson is working on site cleanup, and SDMB has contracted with Hilride Progression Development to design 4-6 miles of MTB-specific singletrack in May.  We expect to start construction in the Fall.

How to Get Involved

SDMB/MBAA 24HOP PRE-RIDE CAMPOUT AND COURSE MAINTENANCE

Last year SDMB did our first-ever 24HOP Pre-Ride and Campout, and it was a blast. This year we’re teaming up with the Mountain Bike Association of Arizona (MBAA) to make it even bigger and better, with riders coming from all over the state! Join SDMB and MBAA on February 4th and 5th for a weekend of riding, camping, and course maintenance. Saturday night we’ll have fundraiser dinner and beer from Brushfire BBQ and Catalina Brewing Company (all proceeds benefit trail projects in S. AZ).
For beer and BBQ members pay $10.00 and non-members pay $20.00. If you are a non-member and chose to sign up at the event, your food and beer will be on us.

Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details! Remember: AZSLD permits are required to ride at the 24HOP course, along with many other trail systems throughout Arizona. Go here to get your permit:https://land.az.gov/recreational-permit-portal.
