The Sonoran Desert Mountain Bicyclists have been a sponsor and beneficiary of the New Belgium Urban Assault Ride since 2009. It may seem like one huge party on-wheels (and it is) but it’s also much more than that. We fully support New Belgium in it’s dedication to promote healthy exercise, lessen our dependence on automobiles and fossil fuel, decrease traffic congestion, and show everyone just how easy it is to get around on a bicycle. So what is it really about? The goal is for you and your partner to ride around Tucson to different checkpoints (including some fun mystery locations), complete tasks, and then head back… all on your bike. Once you’re done, enjoy some great beverages, food, and music! This event has exploded in popularity and with good reason… it’s a heck of a good time.

2012 Urban Assault Ride – February 26th, 2012 – Volunteers Needed!
SDMB is going to need a lot of volunteer help this coming 2012 UAR. Yes, it’s a lot of fun to participate as a rider, but it’s also a ton of fun to volunteer! Plus, you get cool gear, get some great food and drink AND you get the satisfaction of helping out one of Tucson’s most fun events!
